Technical specifications and certificates
All four options are made from a 115 mm thick wooden frame: impregnated, primed and painted with opaque paint according to the RAL palette, or stained, allowing the natural wood texture to be seen through the applied colour. Options with aluminium cladding are further protected by an aluminium profile on the outside, meaning the wood is not susceptible to moisture, sun and temperature changes, and requires significantly less maintenance.

Frequently asked questions about Fenestrum Timber Windows and Doors
How do Scandinavian type windows differ from conventional Euro type windows?
The main difference is the direction of opening: Euro-type windows usually open inwards, while in Scandinavian-type windows, the sash opens outwards. This results in slimmer frame lines, more space for the glass, and the wind pressing the sash more firmly against the frame rather than pulling it away.
Can I choose between a double and triple glazing package?
Yes. Both profile versions, both with and without aluminium cladding, are manufactured with double or triple glazing. The triple-glazed version offers higher thermal and acoustic insulation: its thermal conductivity is 0.75 W/(m²·K), while the double-glazed version's is 1.33-1.35 W/(m²·K).
What is aluminium casting and is it necessary?
Aluminium capping is a thin aluminium profile on the outside of a window, protecting the wood from rain, sun, and temperature changes. It is not essential, but it significantly reduces the need for maintenance and extends the service life of the windows.
What climate are Scandinavian-style windows suitable for?
This profile has been used for a long time in windy, damp areas of Northern Europe and the United Kingdom, where windows have to withstand strong gusts of wind and rain. It is also suitable for Lithuanian climate conditions; however, as with any window, precise installation is important so that the window can cope well with local humidity and temperature fluctuations.
Are Scandinavian-style windows suitable for old or heritage buildings?
Yes. Thinner frame lines and outward-opening sashes are often chosen when restoring historic buildings or designing traditional architecture homes where maintaining an authentic appearance is important.
What is the thickness of this profile and is it possible to manufacture non-standard size windows?
The profile depth is 115 mm. Like other Fenestrum windows, they are manufactured to individual dimensions, making them suitable for both standard openings and non-standard shaped projects.
